Finland

 

Finland is situated in Northern Europe. There are about 5 million inhabitants in Finland and the capital city is Helsinki. Our neighbouring countries are Sweden, Norway, Russia and Estonia.

The national symbols of Finland are the bear, the swan and the lily-of-the-valley.

Finland is known as a country of a thousand lakes and big forests. The geographical shape of Finland is said to resemble a maiden. Nivala is a small town in central Finland. There are about 11000 inhabitants in Nivala. The main sources of income are agriculture and industry. The vast open fields dominate the landscape. Nivala provides good possibilities for sports and other indoor and outdoor activities.

Finland is a republic and head of the state is the president. Our fourth president  Kyösti Kallio came from Nivala. Our current president is Sauli Niinistö.
